We are lawfully obliged to follow policy SMS-PR-029 Managing Student Absences in regards to managing the attendance of school aged children.
In the event of a child being absent from school for any reason, parental explanation is necessary. If you know in advance that your child is going to be absent for a period of time, early advice to your child’s teacher would be appreciated. Upon return to school, a note should be sent to the teacher.
We are required by law to contact a family if a student is absent from school for five (5) consecutive days without explanation. As a school, we may contact you after three (3) consecutive days without explanation.
Please note that in accordance with the policy, a parent of a child of compulsory school age is obliged to ensure that their child attends school on every school day for the educational program in which he/she is enrolled.
